Yet E*Trade, for some unexplained reason, cuts off orders at 4:00. It has happened to me on a number of occasions where they have rejected orders placed at 4:00 or 4:01 (by their own clock). If you want to wait on hold for an explanation, you get some guy who either is an idiot and doesn't know the closing times or assumes his customers are idiots and will believe whatever they are told. Arguing with them is pointless.
