K.M., don't under estimate CPQ's management. If they pull off the DEC deal, the other pc makers, including Dell, may find that they are facing a new CPQ...more aggressive and competitive. DEC has a great service organization, good penetration of the enterprise market, excellent engineering, and global presence. One thing DEC did not have was effective management...but, they are now gone.

Of course, if CPQ fails with the integration of DEC, they are headed for deep trouble. A lot of money riding on that deal.

Can Dell be competitive with CPQ/DEC. From what I have seen and heard, I think Dell will do fine...however, as usual, only time will tell how this all plays out.
