Dale,That's a good point but Intel can't allow it. If NSM is successful at the low end, then you can be sure they will want the middle and then the high end. Intel knows this very well. They know all about building a base with the low end and moving up the ladder. We can always dream though. It would fix both companies problems in a _VERY_ efficient manner. Plus if this deal was reached in a backroom, it would forever get the FTC off of Cyrix's case. Cyrix could make token offerings into Intel's "space" and vice-versa.. it would work very well IMHO.. but hey I don't run things ;-)Yeah, i think there will be all sorts of hybrid devices pc/tv pc/telephone web surfing devices at every price point. Intel will continue to segment the market and will compete in every market. I really have some apprehension about the whole sector. It could turn into the D Drive sector (huge demand, but no profits) Well Dale, I don't think Intel can, or will even _TRY_ to compete in the $750 or lower PC market. I think $999 is the lowest that want to go. At least that's what I would do if I was intel. These millions and millions (possibly billions) of "information applicances" need BIG BAD MF*((*&ING servers on the back-end. Anyone wanna say who has the lead there now.. well it's Intel and CPQ in terms of performance and being able to run NT (BTW: I have played with NT 5.0 and let me tell you, it's gonna give UNIX an even rougher ride).BTW: How is your COMS? Got any investment ideas? Well I'll let you do the math, but I sold the stuff I picked up in the 27's for a decent profit (posted all this on the COMS thread). I'm sitting holding a fair amount of COMS with a base of 23 15/16.. ;-) I'm really looking for somewhere to make money right now myself. I have made little "test" investments in CPQ, SIII, TRID, CRUS, ESST, and QNTM. None of them are going anything amazing, but I bought so little of each I don't care if they all run to 0! (however I figure they can all turn 100% in 6 months, so why not ;-)). Right now to be honest with you I'm not sure what sectors if any are looking good. MPU market is crap. Disk sector needs a major shakeup. DRAM, well DRAM is DRAM. Bio-Chem.. missed the Viagra rush, and nothing else looks like it's going to come close. Resources _may_ be a good play, but I have to look. Even bank stocks are looking shakey to _ME_. With the problems in Asia, the banks who lent money over there (99.99% of them) are going to start to feel it _real_ soon. I'm think about a matress account ;-).. However, if you are an options man I will tell you who will _NOT_ do well in the next 6 months (barring any major announcements): HWP SUNW CSCO (starting about 2 months from now CSCO will start to drop like a rock IMHO). NSCP (duh! ;-) ) If you would like I can elaborate on all of the above. One company I am starting to think about buying (well 2 actually) are: TXN and LU.. but I'm not sure of _even_ those.. Steve
