There is a difference between biggest holder and biggest buyer, which
is what I posted regarding China today. China stepped up its purchases
of US bonds to pass Japan in 1996 actually. There is a big difference
between how much China bought and the outstanding amount of Treasuries
it held in 1996. I said China was a bigger buyer. Sorry ref but no dim sum.

I know it was not a slam dunk because I was wrong on China the first
time; I would characterize it as a difficult 3 point play though. UK
scored #1. Japan is #2. China is #5 and the Netherland Antilles
is number #4. My posts were from memory and I came very close on the
top holders, including the #1 holder: the UK. (By the way, this debate
started last month and not four months ago or a year ago.)

If this was Jeopardy and I said: What is the Netherlands? Alex would
have said Bleeker can you be more specific? And I would have said
what is the Netherlands Antilles (hey), which is the fourth and not
17th biggest holder of US Treasuries. In summary, you were totally
inaccurate with your belief that Japan is the #1 holder of US bonds
and that my entry point in THQ last March was $18 and not $26. So you
deserve a granola bar and firecrakers on your hiking trip (as well as
a Dutch and American flag.)

Are you hiking in the Netherlands or the Netherlands Antilles?

<<<< will find me hiking and as far as I can get on short notice from a computer and wall street.<<<<<

Where are you hiking pray tell? and please use plenty of deet, the ticks are prospering this year.

Lets hope there is no surprise acquisition over the weekend. The potential for such a move, at any time, certainly gives the shorts relief and eliminates the need for them to cover in the short run. So I think our hopes for near-term testing the old high have been effectively eliminated by this rumor. This is good news for Aloha.

Bailing out the compassionate qualifies as good works but I really wanted to see the stock at $40 soon rather than at $28 with ever increasing potential. But I think the chances of $40 now are greatly reduced. We will have to wait for Christmas IMO.

Deet Sum for the idea of expanding into the PC marketplace via the acquisition route.
