It happens all the time in every industry. The gas you buy from a brandname company may be the same gas sold by a noname station, at a lower cost. An airline ticket may cost one passanger one price and another passanger another price. My hotel room cost me less than the guy next door. What about the system with a 1 year guarantee costing more that the 30 day guarantee? Intel and others like them are selling functionality and guarantee. It comes with a price. If you just want the functionality and less or no guarantee then the price is less. It's exactly like an extended warrenty. You pay a price for confidence.
