Here's an amusing exchange from the AENG thread, a place where emotions frequently run high. Quite a number of sceptics there, which makes the hypesters nervous. Auric Goldfinger is one of th sceptics (some would call him an Evil Basher):

David Travis is a broker-dealer who was recently received a 20-day suspension from the SEC:

The debate continues:

exchange2000.com
exchange2000.com
exchange2000.com
exchange2000.com

Travis ups the ante:

exchange2000.com
exchange2000.com

But does Trav done some very bad DD?

exchange2000.com

And it's not over yet: stay tuned...

Steve,

Would ''The "Get a Life" factor'' apply to the budding numerologists who seem to have nothing better to do than sit around making 20 or 30 posts trying to get magic numbers. If so, there are a few on this thread who could be nominated :-) You know who you are!

Besides, by concentrating on patterns and zeroes they are missing the really interesting numbers like:

1444 - Sure its a triple, but its also the smallest perfect square that ends in three "4"s.

3141 - The first four digits of pi

1987 - The smallest four digit prime number with digits in a cylic descending, consecutive order.

969 - Methuselas age according to Genisis. Also the 17th tetrahedral number (i.e., with 969 cannon balls you could build a pyramid with 17 balls on each edge).

666 - The sum of all the numbers on a roulette wheel.

25, 76, 625, 376, 9376 - Are all automorphic numbers. An automorphic number is a number that reappears at the tail and of its square (i.e, 25*25 = 625, 76*76 = 576 ...).

2467 - the 365th prime number ....

54748 - This number = the sum of the 5th powers of its digits (i.e., 5^5 + 4^5 + 7^5 + 4^5 + 8^5).

I looks like maybe I should get a life too.

Regards
John Sladek
