Robbie, Thanks for the link. I have heard about these Whisper numbers forever but didn't know anyone published them. It will be interesting to see how their whisper numbers compare with actuals.

Let's hope they are wrong on Compaq.

Good luck to all.

Dan

Berkshire Hathaway, Compaq Picked by Panelists on 'Rukeyser'

Owings Mills, Maryland, July 4 (Bloomberg) -- Berkshire
Hathaway Inc. and Compaq Computer Corp. were among the stocks
recommended by panelists on a special midyear review edition of
Public Broadcasting System's ''Wall Street Week With Louis
Rukeyser'' program.

Laszlo Birinyi, president of Birinyi Associates Inc., is the
top stock-picker so far this year among the program's revolving
slate of panelists. His 1998 picks, submitted at the end of 1997,
are up an average of 49.5 percent. At the midyear review, Birinyi
recommended Berkshire Hathaway's Class B shares, Brooke Group
Ltd., PeopleSoft Inc. and Apple Computer Inc.

The 1998 picks of Mary Farrell, investment strategist at
PaineWebber Inc., are up 35.2 percent so far. She reiterated her
recommendation of Compaq Computer, ''the underperformer'' among
her picks, which is up only 1.33 percent in 1998. She also said
two newspaper companies, New York Times Co. and Gannett Co.,
could surprise analysts with strong second-half earnings.

John Dessauer, chairman of Dessauer & McIntyre Asset
Management Inc., recommended Hilton Hotels Corp., Bally Total
Fitness Holdings Corp., Core Laboratories NV, Cendant Corp. and
SEI Investments Co. Cendant ''will deliver'' once it gets past
its accounting problems and SEI ''earnings are going to be very,
very strong for the rest of this year,'' he said. His 1998 picks
are up 21.4 percent so far this year.

The year-end selections of Harvey Eisen, chairman of Bedford
Oak Partners, have gained 19.9 percent so far. Eisen recommended
Loews Corp., TIG Holdings Inc., TeleTech Holdings Inc., Ivax
Corp. and Synetic Inc., saying these companies are ''all cheap,
all down, all buying back stock and all have management that have
made huge bets on the companies.''
