Oh, just what I need! I was almost ready to abandon my (unfunded) Castle account and go with MB Traders. But I too would like to hear about the new Java Trader!!

Java Trader

I'm still running a small p133 computer with a little amount
of edo ram and small screen space. When I get my new computer
built in a few weeks, I'll have space for the download and
screen presence of the Java Trader.

What the Java does offer: more robust stability during active times, trading history
and account balances in view and updated instantly, and a chat
channel built in. It also precludes you from shorting anything
that is not on the short list.

What still needs working on is being able to preference
market makers. In time.....

Most traders are using both the Java Trader simultaneously with
the Kill Key. They do this because they like to see their
trading and account balances updated in realtime. They prefer
to trade through the Key, however.

I haven't played around with it at all. But by looking
at the web page, it looks kind a cumbersome compared to the key.
I don't know if one has the option of making it smaller
so that just the things you want to see are in view.
(I don't need to see Level II on it if I'm trading
with the Kill key.) I also don't know the quality
of the chat. Its in its infancy so users of the
Java Trader, let your opinions be known so that
the independant software developers can take note.

I'll have a better anaylsis after I try it out myself.
Pros/Cons anyone else?

S.W.

My account transfer is underway. Should be up and running with Castle within two weeks or so.

I've been testing the demo versions of both the Key and JavaTrader all week. JavaTrader strikes me as much prettier, but KillKey looks faster. This is assuming, of course, that the demo version of JavaTrader is fully functional. JavaTrader doesn't appear to have all of the single keystroke or mouseclick execution options that KillKey has. So it looks like order entry is slower for now. For example, clicking on an MM offer in L2 doesn't set up to automatically preference that MM like KillKey does.

Eric,

How about you? Handling taxes is a potential nightmare with an automated system that could potentially do dozens of trades each day.

By the way, how is the system coming along? Not that it's any of our business, but will you be posting any results?
