Don't you see, the Jews have misinterpreted the scriptures. That's why they missed Christ. Hundred's upon hundred's of prophecies Christ fulfills and yet the Jews don't see it. Okay, now let us be consistent. Here, just now, you said that the Jews misunderstood their own scripture and Jesus (Pbuh). Correct?? (I'll assume you said "yes.") Now, if the Jews misunderstood what Jesus (Pbuh) said, then they misunderstood him when they thought he was claiming to be equal to God. You can't have it both ways. Either they misunderstood Jesus (Pbuh) or they didn't. If they misunderstood him, then they were wrong with their accusations. If they understood him, then this verse shows that the Promised Messiah was not to be equal to God. Either way, you've put yourself in a bit of difficulty. You know, maybe you, or the Muslims, whichever might apply, have misinterpreted the scriptures. In fact, you look at Isaiah 9:6, one verse and try to disprove it! You haven't! You discount some interpretation of some words and through this try to discount the whole verse or all the scriptures. You can't take one verse apart from all the others of hundreds that go with it. I read through this verse and didn't find any information that you presented to counter what I said. Again, the Hebrew text shows that the Promised Messiah was not to be a man equal to God. I am not taking one verse apart. This was the only one you gave me from the OT. So, according to the Hebrew text, the promised Messiah was not to be equal to God. I am surpised that you believe you understand this verse better than the Jews who wrote it. The entire Jewish nation was expecting a messiah but did not believe that the Promised Messiah was to be equal to God as this broke the first Commandments. Their own scripture, when viewed in the light of their own language, shows that the verses have been dishonestly translated from the Hebrew into English. There is much more evidence of tampering in the translation department of the Bible. We haven't touched upon it yet, but John 8:58 is a perfect example of tampering with the translations. They just ignore Jesus as being the fulfillment of the scriptures as the ultimate one. This is a misunderstanding of the Jewish beliefs. If the Jews were expecting the promised messiah to be equal to God, then they could not say that Jesus (Pbuh) was blaspheming. So that if they didn't believe Jesus (Pbuh) was the Messiah, then they would be waiting for another messiah who would have to come later on and say that he was God. That is only if the Jews were expecting the messiah to be equal to God. They were not ignoring Jesus (Pbuh) to be the fulfillment, they believed that Jesus (Pbuh) was claiming equality with God. Their promised Messiah was to never do that. The answer to this problem is that the Jews misunderstood Jesus (Pbuh). That way both problems are resolved: The promised Messiah is delivered as was Promised by God, and the Messiah never claimed to be God. To accept it any other way conflicts with the prophecies from the OT. Now, I stick by the proof I have provided that shows the Messiah as promised in Isaiah 9:6 was not to be equal to God. It only appears that way to english speaking readers who don't know what the original Hebrew said, don't know what was customary to call a great man, and don't know that the translators were not totally honest with their translations.
