Paul,

Which IBM model had the Dual 400 MHz Cyrix Cayennapeno PR599 Wallapaloozas ?

Well I had the choice of an Alpha based machine, or perhaps I might have opted ultra sparc.. but for this choice Intel was the best choice to make.

Steve

Hello Paul,

From hearing from others in texas, it seems clear that CPQ will try going with Alpha with some high end offerings. Do you think CPQ trying to go more with Alpha in the high end (perhaps a lot like how they are trying for as much AMD as they can get in the low end) will be more of a detriment to CPQ or to Intel?

And how much Alpha volume could go to CPQ at the high end (wkstations and servers?) in the next year...will Intel let them have that much?
Seems like CPQ is further help out people like Dell, who go high and low end with Intel, by being out of focus by going with people who may or may not deliver product. This, of course, has help CPU prices come down, but Dell seems to get the rewards without all the crazy work. Am I way off?

thanks for any opinions,

pigboy
