by "reversed" VDSL i meant 52MB upstream, 6.xMB downstream. with ADSL, its just a matter of how the two modems are set up, and of course what else is on the line bundle. VDSL is different?

at the end of a surfing session, you'll see that the ratio of data you sent up the wire vs. what you pulled down is maybe 1:100. most residential users are net consumers of information: they send a tiny URL to a web server, it send back tons of HTML, data, streaming audio/video, software updates, etc.

the corporation is just the opposite. they maintain high-capacity web servers which offer as much content as possible to customers and would-be customers. employees don't spend enough time surfing to offset the traffic for their company's website.

why would a company need 52MB downstream and 6MB up?
