'"You have to remember the U.S. produces more lawyers than the rest of the world combined," he told a Y2K seminar in Washington this week.
Yardeni has also noticed a trend at the Y2K seminars he attends. "About half in the audience are lawyers."

'As MCI introduced the SNA migration service, it hinted that this may be the last new service MCI offers for a while; the company admitted it will be focusing heavily on Year 2000 issues.

MCI chief information officer Lance Boxer said MCI has started to "push back the development of new products in order to get ready for the Year 2000." MCI will spend more than $400 million on Y2K solutions in total, he said, adding, "We made some very strong commitments to customers in the industry, and we have to get this behind us."

MCI plans to complete its Y2K solutions in the first quarter of 1999. Equipment suppliers that don't have their products ready will be removed from MCI's network, Boxer said.
