<But two criticisms of the iMac are its lack of a floppy
disk drive and its price, slightly higher than most of the
sub-$1,000 PCs and in the current PC pricing environment, some
analysts question its higher price.
To solve the lack of an external disk drive, Iomega plans
to introduce a Zip drive with a 100 megabyte storage capacity
and a universal serial bus (USB) interface for easy device
connections. Iomega also plans a Mac version of its multimedia
product called the Buzz, a video capture device and editing
board. The board lets a digital camera attach to the Mac.>

Iomega Appoints Top Talent to Lead Asia-Pacific, Japan, Europe and Nomai Operations; Choonavala, Aoki, Jeter and Henry Take New Posts
Business Wire - July 06, 1998 19:23
ROY, Utah--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 6, 1998--Iomega Corporation (NYSE:IOM) today announced the appointments of Bobby Choonavala as managing director, Asia-Pacific, Jeff Jeter as managing director, Europe, Yoshio Aoki as representative director, Japan and David Henry as general manager of Nomai operations. All four are corporate vice presidents of Iomega and bring impressive talent and experience to Iomega's global leadership team.

Iomega Asia-Pacific

Choonavala comes to Iomega from Digital Equipment Corporation where he built a successful 32-year career. As Iomega's managing director, Asia-Pacific, Choonavala will be based in Singapore at Iomega's Asia-Pacific headquarters and will be responsible for sales, marketing, service and support activities. His appointment will become effective July 3, 1998.

At Digital Equipment Corporation, Choonavala worked in various senior sales, marketing and management capacities, gaining worldwide experience in Europe, Asia and the U.S. Based in Asia since 1985, Choonavala most recently served five years as Digital's president, Asia-Pacific, where he directed operations in Japan, Greater China, Southeast Asia, Australia/New Zealand and India, from Digital's headquarters in Singapore.

Iomega Japan

Aoki brings valuable experience gained in a 26-year career at Sony Corporation. Based in Tokyo as representative director, Japan, he will manage operations of Iomega Japan, including sales and marketing as of July 1, 1998.

At Sony, Aoki served most recently in a dual role as general manager, optical disk strategy division and general manager, strategic business planning. His responsibilities included leading the optical disk business strategy in consumer and computer applications, overall program management of Sony's HiFD (200MB floppy disk) device, high-end tape streamer and optical disk business, and directing strategic alliances with major computer manufacturers.

Iomega Europe

Jeter's responsibilities as managing director, Europe, involve guiding the direction of Iomega's European operations, including sales and marketing functions. He will begin serving as managing director at Iomega's European headquarters in Geneva, July 1, 1998.

Jeter came to Iomega in April 1997, bringing with him more than ten years experience in consumer marketing. His most recent assignment was as Iomega's managing director, Asia-Pacific, and he also served as vice president of marketing. Jeter's knowledge of Iomega's global business qualifies him as an excellent candidate for the European post. Prior to his career at Iomega, he was director of product marketing at Duracell where he managed their primary and rechargeable battery product lines and directed global marketing strategies and execution.

Nomai S.A.

As general manager of Nomai, Henry is leading the transition team comprised of Nomai and Iomega executives to ensure a smooth ownership transition. Iomega recently became majority owner of Nomai, a removable storage company headquartered in Avranches, France, on July 1, 1998.

Henry has been with Iomega since 1997 and serves as vice president of worldwide marketing. He is currently serving as managing director, Europe. He came to Iomega with nine years experience in engineering, sales and marketing at General Electric Corporation, and ten years experience at Lithonia Lighting Corporation where he was vice president of marketing.

"We are obviously very pleased to have such talented, diverse and successful individuals as part of our international management team," said Jim Taylor, executive vice president, global sales and marketing, Iomega Corporation. "We look forward to enjoying the benefits of their leadership across our operations in Europe, Asia, and Japan."

Choonavala and Aoki are further additions to a list of respected executives to recently join Iomega. This talented group includes Taylor, who came from Gateway, Bill Hake, Iomega's vice-president of worldwide OEM sales, who came from Seagate Sales and Technology Corporation, Scott Flaig, Iomega's chief operating officer, formerly of Dell Computer Corporation and Lubbo Luken, a former Digital executive who is now general manager of the Penang manufacturing facility.

I'm back!!!

Florida was HOT!! Man... Won some money in Tahoe too...Should
have won more, but those darn 'wheel of fortune' slots got 3/4s
my winnings!!!

Did any of you take the opportunity to sell your shares in the 6's when the stock bumped from that weird Naomi thing? That was very bizarre.

When I saw that announcement, the first thing I thought was 'desperation'.Strange move. This cash could have been better spent.
Iomega gets nothing out of this. They just paid someone to shut up.
I'll start making disks in my garage. Maybe they'll buy me out!!!

To see the future, look at Syquest stock. Once Iomega breaks 5 for
good, the party is over. Penny stock time! (for another example,
look at DIMD.) All this is IMO.. But I see NO evidence which supports
the stock doubling or tripling this century!
