Eric,

What do you think about the whisper number of 0.66 for SUNW?
Do you think it is too low?

Regards,

H.Wai

<<Hi Ben - Here is an interesting site that posts the "Whisper Numbers" for several tech companies. //www.whispernumber.com/tech.html Here is what they post for SUNW: Sun Report Date Consensus Whisper No. Microsystems SUNW 7/16 .71 .66 EKS >>

Do you honestly believe the first person that jumps up and says "I've got *THE* whisper numbers!!"

This whole "whisper number" thing is crap. It feeds on your feeling that you need some kind of secret information, or you need to feel like you're in the "in crowd", to invest profitably.

Mike

From the Red Harring Online Magazine....

"...SCOOP OF THE WEEK

What did Sun pay for NetDynamics, and when did they pay it? NetDynamics CEO Zack Rinat and Scott McNealy's right-hand man, Ed Zander, pushed the party line that NetDynamics was close to an initial public offering. But it looks like the company was hurting for cash before the deal, and wasn't having any luck in raising it from VCs or pulling in product revenues from the latest revision to its Web application software.

The morning the deal was announced, Rinat and other company officers were on the phone with customers to reassure them about NetDynamics' prospects. One vice president told a major customer that Sun had wired $10 million into NetDynamics' bank account -- a curious move, since the deal was done as a stock swap. And neither company would disclose the size of the transaction. Did Sun slip a bridge loan in on the quiet?..." redherring.com
