IBM's PowerPC line-up looks formidable , consent decree almost gone

Couldn't be better timing with INTC set to go a few rounds with the
FTC . IBM's few rounds lasted over 40 years , providing a Government
career for a Judge and his band of 200 lawyers .

PopwerPC's present and its future (as we know it NOW ) :

------------------------------------------
Above PowerPCs are mostly used in IBM AS/400s and RS/6000s , and IBM
is committed to the PowerPC line :

" IBM will remain firmly committed to PowerPC since nearly 80
percent of its $13 billion in server revenues comes from systems that
are based on PowerPC technology.

Gives IBM plenty of profits to cover the $1 billion in research and
development necessary to bring a new chip generation to market every
two years . "

With MSFT on the DOJ's dance card for 9/8/98 , look for IBM to turn
the heat up soon - you'll see $140 by year end .

Safely collect your dividends and don't rule out a after year end split .
The sun has set on INTC and MSFT .

Regards,
Jim K.

Saju,

I am quite ignorant of IBM inner workings, and have little faith in anything but the moat basic momentum TA (that is, complex TA is a matter of faith, and I'm not a true believer, being a mathematician.)

People talk about this "gorilla game" thing... the big gorilla will eventually take all the banannas, as I understand the theory. I'm not a true believer here, either.

And, there is this Motley Fool thing which I have some repect for- buy a good company, and sock it away for many years. The Fools claim that buying price does not matter in the long run, but I like a good company at a good price, then let it ride.

Seriously now, what price do you think I can for certain complete my buy of IBM? I bought half a position at $95, worried it would continue down. Now I must average UP. I am thinking I would start looking again at anything under $105.

Anyone please jump in here- IBM is going in my long term portfolio. I'm perfectly willing to day trade, but IBM is too expensive for me to swing the shares to make it worth while (for me.)
