That's exactly right, Mike. It is a ratio.

Things are turning around though -- that's why all those folks out in Si Valley are getting laid off. <g>

Well, the SOX sure has been beat down , every thing else has just
about made new highs , but for the SOX to get back were it was
last summer it has to climb 79%.

Think what you want, but the divergence is to great.
Either the SOX is telling us what's going to happen
to the rest of tech or it's going to go up.
And if it don't soon break out the entire tech sector is
going to stagnate..and I guess that could happen.
--------------------
From the money managers point of view I know they want it
to go up. Take the news on MOT today, it was not good at all
but just a tad better than the analcyst had predicted.
In spite of it being the worse quarter MOT has put out in ten
years the stock went up.
BTW it was not officially released until after the bell,
but it had to leak ahead of that take a look
at time the entire sector took off.

If you get this before they change the chart, if not do a
5 day chart
quote.yahoo.com^SOXX&d=1d
yep at 2:30 the SOX was actually down, as were most stocks in
it, but when the word leaked on MOT, that it was not a complete
disaster in 1-1/2 hrs the SOX climbed over 4%.
Now when bad news is good, a sector is just looking for any
excuse to climb. Unless they really screw up the conference call
the SOX has hit bottom.

Not one stock in it didn't rise.

-------------
That's the 16 that make up the SOX.
People have already been guided down on earnings, & expectations
are not high, so even a weak quarter by intel will likely beat
expectations.
-----------------
After all the hype in internet stocks, this sector is just looking
for any excuse to go up. Don't think the funddumbs don't know that
money put here is at less risk than in the internet.
If your short any SOX stocks , I'd close them like fast.
Most people will see what they want, and they SOX bulls included
they are going to trash the bears in this sector, just sit back
and watch.
