Hello fellow 3Com'ers. I have been following the thread since the beginning of the year and am a long-time holder of 3Com (since 1993). I believe in the long-term prospects of the company and the industry it is in and at these prices look very attractive. I bought in recently at $28 and think the $27-$28 range for support appears correct given the gap up was from just below this range to the $30 mark. Yes, 3Com financial management really screwed up by not knowing what the channel looked like when putting mutiples on revenues (or however they valued USRX) and the revenue recognition on those channel inventory appeared suspect given all the write-downs, but it looks as though we are finally past that. Also, I would like to inform you that the post a few weeks ago about the 2400 or so modems on Onsale were ALL sold and they were not from 3Com but a vendor. 3Com could not do such a thing since it would screw up their dealer network. Modems are selling, however, at reduced prices.

Good luck to all and thanks to all on the informative posts.

Joe: It is indeed heartbreaking to see the hard earned 5 pts eaten away day by day. Breaking up is always difficult to do...
Now, again, 3+ pts ago we were already anxious and we knew 32+ was a break point to overcome. No surprise so far, right? (Should have sold some calls, if needing pocket money, again!) There are so many resistances and supports, but nobody knows how strong they are until they all happen. They can zip through just like that. But in a prudent game, one should calculate all the indicators, whether they are fabonacci, 2/3-1/2-1/3-1/4 magic numbers, or 50-100-200MA...., one should look for as much confirmation as possible. In the past week, there was just not enough room for further advancement according to the stochastics and RSI, for instance. Actually stochastics may be the main bottleneck. Now things are much clearer, but only up to a point. I believe a model calculation should advise that 35+ is the next stage. Fundamentally, don't forget there will be 10M shares of buy back, company is being optimistic, and PalmPilot is going away...-all pointing in a good direction. The management must shape up, we all know, but we had seen no action until the Palmpilot news. (BTW, how much does the Palmpilot contribute to the revenue anyway?) It may be only symbolic, but it is an epistemologically critical thing to do. (whatever that means!) It is an important symbol of strategic shift(maybe) that will have positive psychological impact.
