Joseph,

we probably should not bother with this type of news anymore. While we see the big boys such as MOT and Korea, which has 3 or the six largest chip makers in the world, are crying, the sector can actually move up because someone casually mention that a minor player (ALTR) can meet or beat estimates.

The news today about INTC is also puzzling. I guess AMD will give us an indication this afternoon as to how much the PC sector have moved toward the sub $1000s.

These Korean chipmakers are going to HAVE to seek foreign equity capital. Korea has always been even more xenophobic than Japan about allowing foreign investment, but I think their choice is going to be sell part of the business or lose it all.

Yesterday, Korea announced that KIA would be sold at auction!

Actually, it might help the semi equipment sector if one or two of these went belly-up. The surviving DRAM co's would have some income and could get back on track with new fab and upgrade spending.
