Todd, I confirmed with Williams that the 70-85 cents charge is pretax. He pointed out that institutional investors are aware of the size of the charge but retail investors need to do the same and not freak out if the EPS has a negative sign in front of it. I think more and more companies are taking an aggressive (conservative) approach to write offs: rather than amortizing R&D expenses, they are absorbing these charges sooner and that is good for future EPS. Bleeker
