A bunch of 144s were filed by Manu insiders after the big drop too. What happened there is some of the insiders got a margin call and had to sell (with a basis of .50 or so, you are correct). The insiders lost a lot on the Manu debacle, because their personal funds were also tied up in Manu.

If it is the same kind of situation with Vntv then it lends credibility to the "execution problems" which tend to blindside everybody - thats if the insider involved still has knowledge of Vntv vs. someone who has left.

BTW I think insiders can actually be a terrible indicator of stock performance in a small company. In big companies (like Apple or Oracle or something) then insiders might know they are in trouble but they can't do anything about it. In small companies the mgmt vision is immedately visible, obviously they think they are doing the right thing otherwise they would change the strategy. The people that lost the most money in the Vntv decline are probably friends of Luongo.
