Actually, I would say that it is one of rare good news towards NSM to get rid of IBM from her back.

If IBM and STM could develop another x86 System-on-A-Chip other than Cyrix, more home appliance manufacturers would feel free to put more resources and investments on the information appliance market.

It would EXPAND the whole market and bring down the x86 ASP in a faster matter. Great news for NSM; bad news for Intel!

STM still has an active X86 development effort with
Metaflow. The present STM core is based on the 5X86,
I believe, which is the same core as the GX uses.

Evidently Metaflow is closer to tapeout than I thought.
