Kash, re: "I think the k6-2 will be priced in the $80 range for Q3."
I don't think they'll get that low, mainly because I don't think IBM, Compaq and HP want AMD to go away.
But if they do get to $80, it's bad news for everyone in the CPU biz. NSM/Cyrix must be shaking in their boots, and IDT is nowhere.
How much is Celeron worth if K6-2 is only worth $80?
And where will Mendocino have to be positioned? ( Especially after AMD brings out the chip with on-chip cache?)
I see PII350 is projected to sell for $210 in Q3. The sub-0's are going to have too many choices for the makers. And the consumer will make out like bandits. But I have always felt that IBM and Compaq are going to make sure AMD survives. They represent too much bargaining power against Intel for them to allow AMD to die.
Just my opinions.
