Compaq Delivers New Storage
Options
(07/08/98; 8:04 p.m. ET)
By Joe Wilcox, Computer Reseller News

Compaq Computer released a slew of new storage
options aimed at increasing resellers' arsenal of
performance components.

The company introduced six new small computer
system interface (SCSI) drives that will be immediately
available in entry-level ProLiant 800 and 1600
workgroup servers and Compaq Professional
Workstations. The new drives are credited with helping
boost performance of the company's new 350-MHz
and 400-MHz servers 42 percent over a comparable
300-MHz configuration, according to John Young,
Compaq's director of product and marketing Enterprise
Solutions.

The new drive offerings include four, new
second-generation 10,000 revolutions per minute hard
drives with a capacity up to 18 gigabytes, and two new
10,000 rpm, 4.3-GB and 9.1-GB non-plug wide-ultra
SCSI hard drives.
