TT,

I think that clealy yields are better. AMD's volume ramp has been impressive. If you extrapolate the ramp, I believe that they will do a lot more than just an additional 1M pcs. Remember they had forecast around 2M and shipped 2.7M. Plus 4M is not far off from 2.7+1=3.7M.

I am not sure that AMD was ever a great company, and yes if they cannot turn profitable by mid next year they will be history as a major independent player.

Just my opinion.

TT, >>>"Are we witnessing the slow demise of a great company (AMD)?"

When was AMD ever a great company? In terms of stock price, only the great American chip company debacle of the mid - late 80's had their stock any lower than today. Sanders must be the all time "survivor" in this industry. AMD can at best be described only as the same.
