'Jones is pessimistic about the problems ahead. His current projection is that "the software problems of the Euro, Year 2000, and other dates will damage the software industry for a generation."

But then he offers a word of consolation, "A surprising aspect of the Year 2000 Problem is that the companies that solve this problem are going to end up knowing more about their software than ever before. Even better, their software will be in much more stable and reliable condition than it is right now." . . .

It is well past time for such clueless assertions as "It might be a bump in the road or a blip on the screen." We need to look the evidence in the face. We need to get beyond our preconceptions of an ever-expanding technical and economic boom. We must grasp the need, not only for action on Y2K remediation, but for contingency and disaster recovery planning in every one of the nation's political jurisdictions. Those elected officials not acting now will be held politically accountable for sure and possibly legally accountable as well.

49er, I respect your opinion, so I'm really surprised.

Were you just trying to stir up debate? Do you really believe y2k is a non-problem?

On another topic... bought Murphy's book at your recommendation. Best book on TA I've every read. Glad you brought it up.
