Tom of Tom's Hardware Guide Hal PS: I especially liked the Enterprise vs Space Shuttle comparison. Did anyone know that the Russians also have (had) a cool Space Shuttle to rival our own? It was called "Burin". It had some interesting innovations, like built in jet engines for re-entry maneuvering and landing. The big draw-back was that the main engine was part of the disposable tank and therefore could not be recycled. Before they ran out of money, they flew it once into space and back on autopilot (without a live crew) just to prove the concept to themselves and to justify the human effort. You may remember this, but how soon we do tend to forget. As regrettable as the current decline in the high-end Russian space effort is, the NASA Space Shuttles, by coming out first and by being constantly improved, are still out there doing their jobs with no rivals in sight. Now, I'm not saying that there are any parallels here, but ... HR
