re: "...Thomas Meredith said the company is comfortable with second quarter earnings estimates -- pegged at 46 cents per share by First Call..."

See, This is where the stock market gets a little fuzzy.
OK, so we expect 46 cents First call.
But we have to whisper that up a few cents.
Well they did not make the last whisper number.
Are they going to miss the whisper again.
If DELL makes 46 cents then great but if the market is expecting more, that could hurt the stock.

I'm thinking of buying a new Dell desktop from dell.ca but I'm not too impressed with their "free upgrade" on various components.

Up until yesterday, they were offering a free upgrade to 1gb memory on the desktop 4700; supposedly a $200 value. But I want 2gb. I had to pay an extra $600 for 2gb. It should only be an extra $400. It doesn't reflect the free upgrade ($200) to 1 gb.

Today, they no longer have the free upgrade to 1gb, and sure enough, 2gb is still and extra $600.
