Yousef, if CPQ has no "strategic core technical competencies" then what do you make of the Alpha and the world's #1 non-stop computers. Not to mention ~3,000 tech support personnel.

Yousef,

No I think you are really the one who doesn't know wha tyouare talking about no "strategic core technical competencies" ...

Sure there Yousef.. and Digital never had any either.. CPQ now has experts in design of high bus speed motherboards, fast memory subsystems, CPU architects, storage experts, what else do you want?

IBM and HWP have "real" R&D that will allow them to provide
the "high performance" solutions.

See above.. I happen to have to deal with both HWP and IBM.. IBM is the much better company. HWP is about 5th on my list of companies I would consider to be "top of the line" (beaten out by: IBM, CPQ, DELL, SUNW, in no particular order).

Compaq will have to compete against the likes of DELL

So do IBM and HWP.. don't see you saying either of them are doomed.

Steve
