a TV soundbite recently that claimed 70% of the profits of money-center banks were made on currency trading.>>>

Ahhh, Could be true, but it also was a "come on" for people to trade currencies. Not particularly a low risk type of trading. I also heard that if unleaded gas prices move UP 6 cents, I will make $12,000 on my original $ 3000 investment.
Several utility co's defaulted on derivatives trades re: the price of electricity from other utilities. Southern Co. got hit with a large default by some company.
Ahhh, tis way beyond my comprehension.

On the practical side, I started getting positive Vibes about the mkt two days ago and look what happened.
:-)

Bonnie:

I agree with your assessment. When the Euro comes online there will be an alternative to the almighty dollar and the Asians and others will use it. A good number of peoples around the globe do not share our high opinion of ourselves and when the time comes that they can help put a pin in our bubble they will with glee. I don't know if people in this country realize how much the US is resented around the world, rightly or wrongly it matters not.
