Even if it is better, S3 has no marketing or that much brand awareness. Thats one area where 3Dfx is really dominant...I was more worried about NVidia TNT. And that's an overpriced clunker.

Continued to punish myself and got some more shares today. Looks like we will hold today.

S3 Benchmarks

RE: "Regarding Banshee's shitty performance ... Banshee being close to 1/2 of the Savage 3D's performance in D3D, helloooooo..anyone home ????"

I may be in over my head technically, but I came across this comment:
"Something to keep in mind regarding the S3 benchmarks are the testing methodology. They used EXTREMELY large textures in an attempt to exploit one of the few "supposed" weakness of the PCI Voodoo2 boards vs and AGP board. The fact is no game coming to market is even going to think about using 20MB textures for quite a while. Currently PCI bandwidth is more than adequate to handle games like QII and Unreal, and it will probably take at least another year or two before PCI boards like V2 are hitting the wall vs AGP. Hence the reason V Banshee initially is only AGP1x.

Sure the S3 looks great when you build a CUSTOM level with huge textures, but the fact is if all the textures took up that much memory it would require a large number of CD's...with DVD slow to take off and many gamers still relying on PCI motherboards...I think it will be quite a while before we see anything similar to levels like that in 3D games.

Its simple, 3Df/x does not inflate their card's performance or benchmarks with special cases or tests and consitently meet their specs." As posted by PackMan97 on the MF board.

PS: Since we did not go down, now we can only go up. Note that volume is way below normal so far. Shorts planning to cover before earnings have to be loosing patience. I still expect to close at 16 3/4 or better today. And why not? Things are much clearer today than they were yesterday. Clearer for shorts and clearer for longs. HR

Someone told me that the Banshee had Vsync enabled on those benchmarks
So I'll take my negative comments back for now, until we see some
equally weighted benchmarks...

Banshee had half the performance of Savage in one game only and that was Forsaken a stupid piece of crap game by Akklaim check the Top Sellers list for June how high up there is Forsaken. The other games were fairly close and Banshee would blow Savage out of the water when a game is optimized for glide.
