I'm not so bullish about the DSP-based PC audio parts, it's a cut-throat market. The first chip in this family started production more than a year ago in non-material quantities (they have got the Intel motherboard slot now though). PCI soundcards with a Cirrus/Crystal chip seems to be have been completely absent until now. It was reported today that Chromatic Research has seized development on its MPACT2 media processor. This is one of the major competitors of Cirrus' "MediaMax" design (graphics+audio+modem), and only a few months ago they were touting millions of shipments in the second half of the year (getting the modem IP from Motorola). Is Cirrus still planning to come out with this chip?
