BK,
So what makes you think the B2B will be that high? Sounds like it
may drop to .78 or so due to all the order cancellations/delays
by Japan/Taiwan/US companies. We could see a B2B as low as 0.60 as
things get worse, probably by Oct (this is just a WAG) but wouldn't
surprise me in this economic/business environment.

The Company currently expects new orders of $600 million to $675 million, net sales of $850 million to $885 million and ongoing earnings of $0.15 to $0.18 per diluted share for the third fiscal quarter of 1998. The ongoing earnings forecast excludes an estimated $25 million to $30 million restructuring charge (approximately $0.05 per share after-tax) associated with a Voluntary Separation Plan announced by the Company on May 26, 1998.

If sales are at $850m and orders are at $600m, where does that take us next quarter? .10 to .13?

Roy

Brian,

I haven't owned any semis long for quite some time, but the cyclical nature of the business is being exacerbated by the crumbling economies of SEA...This downturn is much more than theusual supply and demand fluctuation in a healthy macro world economic environment. The upturn keeps getting pushed back and IMHO we really have no clear signs that there will be one anytime soon. The seasonal uptick these companies should be experiencing, going into the fall buying season, is being somewhat mitigated by the lack of PC demand especially in Asia. I bought MU PUTS today as it pushed up to 30 area and feel that any rallies in these stocks is still an opportunity to play the downside. I'm looking forward to the turnaround but see nothing that tells me it will be this year...
