sig, Dell grows in my portfolio for the very reasons you described in your experience.. I discard stocks that don't perform or go down and only the best remain. for me that includes only Dell Microsoft and Yahoo. I am 40% in Dell; 55% in Berkshire Hathaway Class B and 5% in Yahoo. I wouldn't be surprised if those percentages reverse themselves by the end of the year as Dell seems ready to move.
I dumped like you Intel and COmpaq. I sold Microsoft to buy more Dell. It's gone up but I expect Dell to outperform it.
How many more doubles to go in dell before it slows down? Is there any serious build -to- order just-in- time competition out three?
It bothers me if I cannot find a flaw in a stock. Is there a weakness somewhere in Dell that a rival (or cabal of bears) could exploit?

all the best,
jhg

re: You are too late to get out,Jim warned us in Sept 1996.We should have sold Dell at $3.7/sh per his post USRX # 18014 of Sept 9,1996

Sig,
maybe this is why I hate the stock so much.

Now, On the other hand,
Would you have believed me if I had said that DELL will Rally 2800% over the next 22 months ?

That just seems unreasonable to me for any company. regardless as to what they do.
