PeopleSoft is not a used car dealership, and it's customers are typically strong firms with a professional approach to business.

I find your post humorous, especially the "take it or leave it". If only million dollar software and business process engineering deals were so simple.....

Anyway, just for kicks:

1) What was being sold for $5 million ? Which models, err I mean modules ?

2) Any detail on the value of x ?

Anyway, the one thing that PeopleSoft does seem to be doing more of is the services component. Although the margins are lower than licenses, this should continue to be a growth component and add to earnings.

Regarding SAP's mild disappointment - it's really all expectations; by most measures they had a very solid quarter; in fact revenue was higher than anticipated.

It seems like everyone has friends who are senior executives at these companies. Why would a senior executive say something like that? That's taking money out of his pocket.

And pricing pressures are evident in everything. If PSFT does not offer new products and services, and increase the breadth of products and services offered, then they will die out anyway. Pricing pressures are no problem if you replace with volume, or find new sources of profits from new areas of sales.

I am confident that PSFT can adapt and overcome pricing pressures.
