Believe it or not I put a 1.44 floppy disk in my Zip drive and
fortunately it didn't hurt the drive. The OEMs have enough
experience with the drive to have establish the benefit of inclusion
to their systems.
It's their systems Rock and they're still installing them at record
rates, maybe they know something you don't. I can tell you this
I've now installed over 300 drives and have had only 2 failures.

Go figure

By the way I wouldn't have even used a 1.44 disk but I needed
a driver for a system that wasn't compatible.
