I hate to break this to you, Dave, but 246810 has never, to my knowledge, posted on any of the FBN threads.

Back to the drawing boards. Think really hard, and you CAN come up with more absurd conspiracy theories, though I doubt you'll ever top DixieCup in that department. Don't miss this hilarious post:

Dear Dave,
I read your post #283 with interest, as it was the first time I have ever been referred to as part of any SI group. And what a group! I know I'm taking my credibility with you into my own hands by even posting after Janice, but here goes...
Before you start making lists of people to watch for nefarious activities, you really should do your homework. You have stated today that you do thorough DD on your investments--if your accusations are any example of your DD style, I worry about your portfolio.
Please check my profile and the list of all my posts before you accuse me again. I have never posted on the FBN thread. I've read it, though, and found it funny and clever. I'm new to investing, never passed myself off as anything else. Even I could figure out that FBN was a goof!! Jeez, Dave. Wasn't the word Nasdaq even misspelled as Nazdaq?
I do not know Janice or the others except for their posts on SI. Not even a PM, Dave.
FWIW my answer to your question to Barbara Payne (as I think I'm included under "et al") about personal motivation on SI and this thread is as follows:
I am here to learn about making money. Learn. Then hopefully make some money.
I can learn from those who are critical thinkers. I admire those who make well-informed critical comments on threads where there is a sheep mentality. They know they're probably going to be attacked, but do it anyway, partly because they don't mind the confrontation, partly because they're adding something to the mix that we should be aware of.
I started to post here because I felt you were taking over the thread and getting a little out of control with your accusations. I told you as much. I'm saddened by what's happened here. You know, on psychiatric wards its always the paranoid patients who monopolize the staff with their accusations. Cool it for a while, Dave. And stop using the royal "we"-- your pathology is showing.

Hi again, Dave,

Most people on SI want to make money.

Me too. I use the buy and hold method. I don't do options, shorts, funds, indexes, technical analysis, flipping IPOs, questionable pennies, or many foreign stocks. I do own some pennies (that weren't pennies when I bought 'em) and I do own one Canadian stock. I have a 403(b) that's in Fidelity mutual funds (the only sane option available to me at the time), and my wife has a 401(k) nearly 100% in INTC. I am interested in learning how to do some short term (not daytrading) investing in large-cap and mid-cap stocks, but because of my personal tax situation, have been unable to do so until next year (very big maybe on this).

if true, that would almost lead one to think that you are with the NASD.

Nope, not me. I am a full time bonafide retiree.

People wonder why you guys have so much time on your hands to spend
apparently unconcerned about making money...

I have enough money to live a comfortable, but not extravagant lifestyle. While I do have numerous losers in my portfolio, believe me when I say that just two of my investments (INTC and PLAT) have way more than offset the losses and "dead money" in other equities.

"Why don't they spend any time promoting stocks they own like most people... not hyping by promoting with good honest DD"?

My stocks are in my profile. Do you really think I have to promote any of the good ones? Would anyone listen to me if I promoted the not-so-good ones? If you're really interested, currently I'm researching CSCO, USF, TUBY, and others whose symbols escape me at the moment (like Pepsi, Hewlett-Packard, Vanity Fair). If you want to know those stocks that I don't like, try any overvalued internet stock. I don't do momos.

Dave, are you accusing me of something? If so, spell it out for me.

Dave,

You don't speak for "the people" and you haven't figured out SI.

SI is all things to some people, and it's one thing to some people. And, then there are those who mix into a lot of different things. SI is life at its fullest. It is research, education, recreation, literature, profit, loss, joy, sorrow, foolishness, love, hate, communication, togetherness, stupidity, ignorance, naivety, comedy, everything that life has to offer.

You are viewing this small bit of life in the meanest terms. FBN Associates was a demonstration of cleverness, ignorance, naivety, comedy and foolishness. It sure drove home the point that a lot of people do not do responsible DD. Bashing the hypesters on AENG will probably save some other SI brothers and sisters who don't do careful DD some money. Shedding a tear on Deep thoughts with Dexx reinforces our feelings of joy and sorrow. These are just three examples from different slices of SI.

You're missing a lot of life, Dave. You're missing it on SI, and you may be missing it off SI.

Let's address a few points, Dave:

&#147&#133we all have a new list of people to track and CATLADY, JANICE SHELL, TeDENNIS, MARCOS, POET, 246810, KERRY,&#133&#148

I'm terribly depressed. Out of your list, you only managed to get a couple core members, some outside/independent "consultants", and the rest who have nothing to do with it at all. If that's the best DD you can do, might I suggest, in lieu of stocks, those wonderful S & H Green stamps people collected back in the 60's.

&#147You guys have all exposed yourself&#133you didn't need me to do it.&#148

No kidding. Guess they didn't need you because of your incompetence-see above. Furthermore, I'm posting in my classic Fruit of the Loom undies and T-shirt. So much for exposure.

&#147You guys seem to have another agenda.&#148

Agenda? All I want is some plastic pink flamingos for the front yard, an Elvis-On-Black-Velvet wall hanging, and a matching set of Tupperware. Wanna sell yours?

&#147You are being tracked more now, just I am being tracked, and 100's of others here on SI.&#148

Gasp! Tracked! Since you've done so well so far, I'll carry around a bag of popcorn and drop a few bits. When you see the fluffy white kernals, you'll know there's a good movie around. Be sure to wear the blue clown suit instead of the pink one, so that way I'll know you're not far behind. Say&#151after this tracking thing&#151then what? You gonna take away my bus pass?

&#147We are all thinking you guys ARE BASHERS.&#148

EEK! No&3151not&#151not the&#133BASHERS!! I'm crushed and my life is forever changed. Maybe I'll turn over a new leaf so I can be a two-bit penny-stock hype artist. Can I join your club then, Dave?

Say&#151the coat-check girl at the door seems helpful. Perhaps she can assist you with the purchase of a clue (vowels are extra)&#133

Dave, I can't take any credit at all for creating the FBNA April Fool's joke, I didn't even hear about it until late that day ... and you know what they say, anything after noon on April 1 doesn't really count. Anyway, my broker couldn't get me a fill.

How come you don't mention Kevin Watson? He was pretty central in the conception and development. And Bill Ulrich - he did the grunt work in putting up the website - one of the finer company websites around, as well, imho.

You seem curious about why people post as they do. I can speak only for myself on that - I like discussion, and find at SI the world centre of financial discussion along with great humour over in Coffee Shop. I find quality debate fascinating, and departures from it abhorrent, for example the descent into primitive brutality that some bulletin board hypesters are prone to - that's about the only thing that draws me over to post on those threads.

But I can't take any credit for FBNA. If next April 1st you see an SI-led planetary coup d'‚tat, with a General¡simo marcos involved, that'll be your first clue that they let me in the club and showed me the secret handshake.
