Hello again Craig, After furthur thought, I'm not sure if this is the right thread to discuss God, but I'll continue for now.Why is your God so threatened by other gods/teachings? If your God really is the truth, then it should be clear to everyone, and he/she wouldn't have to kill off other gods to prove it, right? Another premise Christians work under is the fact that we as humans are bent towards evil/sin. God sometimes must help us along a bit by taking away some distractions from His truth or we will run straight for them. We as humans search for happiness throughout our lives. We try to fill ourselves with short-term things like money, sex, power, but nothing satisfies like God in the long-run. I believe God wanted to get rid of the other images of gods for our own good so that we would have fewer distractions towards our long-term joy of Him. As for Del's post about God commanding me to kill, I believe that God commands certain absolute truths that we should follow always and other commands for only certain specific occasions. This command seems to be a certain command to kill a few tribes in the immediate area of the Israelites. I don't think it can be transferred as a direct command to all Christians/Jews to kill everyone that doesn't believe in God. Side Note: I'm not sure how much good this is doing with me trying to explain what I feel were God's intentions concerning a few historical events detailed in the Bible. I don't pretend that my thoughts are the truth, although I hope that some are at least close. The crux of Christianity lies upon the life of Jesus. Without accepting Jesus first, it does no good to understand a few Bible verses. As I've said a few times now, I'm sure there are a few web sites and books detailing the supposed contradictions within the Bible. Please read them if you really are looking for an answer. I feel that taking these verses out of context with Jesus and the rest of the Bible can do more harm than good. If anyone wants to discuss Jesus himself, I'm all open for discussion. Craig, if you would like to finish this discussion, I'd love to over the private threads. Thank you and God Bless, Grant
