Grant,
Thanks for the thoughtful response. A few comments:

but nothing satisfies like God in the long-run.

Do you know this from personal experience of other religions? Have you participated in a variety of other religious experiences? And even if this statement is true for you, how can you be so presumptuous to know if it is true for everyone else? Do you think the Buddha was a great spiritual man? Many have found great satisfaction in following the teachings of the Buddha. I don't have a problem with your statement if it is a personal statement of your experience, but you make it sound like it applies to all humans.

I believe that God commands certain absolute truths that we should follow always and other commands for only certain specific occasions.

So how do you know which truths are absolute and which ones are only to be pulled out on special occasions? Seems like there's a lot of room for error and all-too-human rationalizations here.

Grant, this thread is an excellent place to discuss God, if you are open to listening to a wide variety of opinions.

I'm curious about something--what do you think Jesus would say, and how do you think he would feel, if he came back to earth right now? Specifically, how do you believe he would view people from different different Christian faiths, like the Catholics and Protestants in Northern Ireland, fighting and murdering children in his name?
