Hello Delbert,

Emile, I am shocked that a Bible scholar like you doesn't know that the gospels were not written at the time of the events by witnesses, but hundreds of years later, and that an Atheist like me does know that.

I recently bought a book called Jesus: The Evidence which turned out to be more of an attack on the Gospels and Jesus than an apologetic book. Even this book says that the gospels are fairly original writings and that they were composed at the latest in the late 2nd century. Not hundreds of years later. Obviously the scholars will disagree to an extent on the dating.

Grant

"I never said that I agreed with the Jesus scholars. I only posted it here to show how you and others choose to ignore new findings by scholars that run counter to your beliefs."

"The findings of the Jesus Seminar"?? What findings? The Jesus Seminar does no original research or archaeological investigation. The raison etre of the Jesus Seminar is the dissemination of antichristian rhetoric under the guise of scholarship. Antichristian Jewish "scholars" have been disseminating antichristian Talmudic teachings under the guise of scholarhip for centuries. At least most of the Jewish "scholars' have enough integrity not to pretend to be "Christian scholars" like the Jesus Seminar bunch.

I never said that I agreed with the Jesus scholars. I only posted it here to show how you and others choose to ignore new findings by scholars that run counter to your beliefs.

I do not ignore their "findings", I reject their pale imitation of scholarship. They are neither researchers nor scholars. They have no findings because they do no real searchings ------or research. Like I said before, they are simply athesists who use Christian terminology to get the attention of the antichristian press. The Jewish controlled U.S. News and World Report were more than happy to give international coverage to the "Jesus Scholars" antichristian rhetoric.
The media uses the "Jesus Scholars" to ridicule Christ and Christianity and at the same time can say they are merely reporting the news. It is strange how the Jewish media always seem to either magnify or give fair coverage to these strange antichristian cults while maintaining
a posture of constant and bigoted hostility to mainstream Christianity.
The antichristian Jewish media are experts at giving wide coverage to false and dissident "christians". They use these fake "christian" to achieve their own agenda of demeaning and ridiculing Christ and real Christians.

Emile, I am shocked that a Bible scholar like you doesn't know that the gospels were not written at the time of the events by witnesses, but hundreds of years later,

"Hundreds of years later"?? This proves that you have never seriously investigated the writings in the New Testament.

Remember, there are three contemporary historicall sources about Jesus and his life; the Jewish New Testament, the antichristian Jewish Babylonian Talmud, and the pagan Roman sources.

The New Testament document is mostly eyewitness testimonies about Jesus written while these eyewitnesses were still alive. The document is very biased for Jesus and many of the eyewitnesses prefered to die horrible martyrs deaths rather than change their testimonies.

The Babylonian Talmud was written hundreds of years after the Crucifixion but claims to have information going back to contemporary sources. It is very biased against Jesus and is the foundation for modern Judaism's attitude against Jesus. It claims to go back to contemporary sources but the material is clearly emotional nonsense. I invite you to read it for yourself. If you have trouble finding the original Soncino English translation, I will help you.

The pagan sources are mainly contained in Pilate's report to Caesar about the Crucifixion.. The report is contained in the ACTA PILATI.
Pilate gives a pagan's perspective on the Crucifixion.

I sincerely believe that a humble reading of these contemporary historical sources will reveal the truth and accuracy of the New TEtament accounts.
