[earnings 7/21]

Hi jfd,

thanks, that was an interesting article regarding eci and lu and their 3 year development and purchasing agreement for wdm stuff...

interesting that eci can manufacture some of this high end stuff 15% less than lu... as i recall some of these laser assemblies can be rather sensitive and require specific sophisticated expertise.. that lu is entrusting this to eci says something in itself

believe eci and telrad are something like sister co's under kor (parent), and as telrad seems to be involved in the manufacturing of orctf equipment, suppose this may bode well for orctf's cost structure as well

interesting also that lu is working with eci in israel.. seems that lu, eclif and orctf all know one another pretty well... looked at eclif some time ago and was favorably impressed, maybe time for a revisit?

seems pretty clear the key to much of the next generation xdsl equipment will be integration of fiber to dsl... orctf and fujitsu have been working on sonet integration in the onu for some time... have been trying to get a sense of how the dwdm stuff will impact the sonet market, but as no doubt you know, it gets pretty technical, but am working at it.. in any case, fujitsu does seem to be making a dwdm push and would hope that orctf integration might come along for the ride.

as you may know, orctf will be reporting earnings on July 21... replay starting at 2:00 PM the same day for 24 hours. The number for the replay is: (402)-220-4216

will be out of town on vacation, but am going to try to catch the replay.

best wishes
