Sooner or later, when these squabbles occur, the motive and intent of the posters becomes evident. I always thought ignoring personal attacks was the best way to deal with them, and that if one was to give enough rope, the individual would eventually hang himself. I still think this is true. I encourage spirited debate, and have no beef with either of you, though I have my own determination of what may be happening, and for what reasons. Sometimes it's a strategic move to suck others in via misdirection, sometimes it's just plain meanness and the attempt to "get over" on someone else. Whatever it is, it wastes time and energy. We've got enough problems. Also, we never know what pressures bear on another, and a quick determination that someone is the enemy usually turns out to be erroneous. No one owns this thread. If I don't like it, I'll leave. If lafike wants to use SI for bad reasons and doesn't plan to join, he will run his course. I am sorry he offended you, and reading over his postings, his fuse was too short. If I have an objection to your responses, it's that since the rules for trial members have changed, your beef should be with SI Admin. If he'd paid his fee, would the wound sting any less?
