Lindy, got my "gorilla" delivered this a.m (UPS guy was shaken, but OK).....heard an analyst get a "dig" into SAP this morning on CNBC, of course he was long JD Edwards.....bp

Yep, I also followed Moore's advice, and took a beating on Manugistics. I like EMC as a mature gorilla. They have already collided with and defeated IBM for the enterprise storage market. I also own both Cisco and Lucent; their impending collision is gonna be scary.

The stock action of Seible's competitors tends to suggest that SEBL is in the process of dominating it's niche. You're right that the risk is that SAP will muscle them out eventually, but if they can become the standard it won't be easy to do.SEBL software can be integrated into SAP products. Like Microsoft, SAP will not be able to dominate in everything it attempts.
I own both so I can wait to see who will win.
I also own CSCO and MSFT who like SAP are monentum stocks, but that actually worries me. Momentum stocks do great until the momentum players decide to go elsewhere, then they collapse big time. Fortunately this tendency is much less noticeable in big cap stocks.
