>>First off, the original point was that MS, along with almost every other company, announces products before they are available.

The point is, Microsoft announces similar new products AFTER others have announced such product.

I think I explained it pretty well but just in case you have a short memory here goes again.

My first post to start thinks off.

I think you pushed out Windows 98 early, before it was ready--knowingly and willingly--in disregard of the customers who have made Microsoft the most powerful software company in the known universe.

Here is your reply.

Are you kidding? How many examples of software/hardware would you like that were announced months (or years) before they were ready (or never ready), and were released with major/minor bugs before the software was ready to ship?

If you think other companies don't do this, you need to do a little research.

Okay I'll bite. I couldn't come up with any other company than MS. So please point me in the direction of a company that sells not ready for prime time products. Don't forget you can't use any ISV that develop for Windoze since a crappy OS hurts the ISV.
---

And just for good measure in case you do find one then tell me why Win3.1 was crap then the next product they released win95 which was a total disaster and now Win98 which is just a OSR dressed up like a new OS.
Tell me of any other company in the software business that has pulled this kind of crap and got away with it. The only way this could have happened is that MS has a monopoly and the general masses have never used a reliable OS so they keep on buying into this crap. The saying goes if you never had it you don't know what you are missing.

At the end of the day the DOJ has to break up MS to get a half descend product for the average Joe consumers considering MS past track record as I have just stated.

Now this leads me into NT. The corporate users have a little more smarts and understand that UNIX is a proven OS. Even with all the FUD MS spews out they can't fool the pros and NT is not there so it will not replace UNIX as a study I have seen has indicated. If MS can't product a reliable hobby system how in the world do they expect to produce a enterprise system unless they steal all the UNIX code and call it NT-6 since NT-5 isn't anywhere to be found.
