Going down

The job performance ratings of both President Clinton and
Vice President Al Gore have slipped since April, according to
a new poll.
Mr. Clinton's job performance rating fell to 52.6 percent in
a Zogby International survey taken earlier this month, down
from 55.5 percent in April. Those giving the president a
negative rating rose to 45.7 percent from 43.4 percent in April.
Only 40.9 percent of 1,206 likely voters gave Mr. Gore a
positive job performance rating, while 47.9 percent gave him
negative marks. In April, 43.5 percent gave him a positive
rating while 45.7 judged him negatively.
However, it was not all bad news for the president and vice
president. Their personal approval ratings were up a bit.
