to ignore.

How about some specifics like vendor and price?

I'm not missing your point, in fact this message confirmed
my question. I think what you responded to was someone
asking about how to connect a bunch of PCs which were
essentially a network to be used by an individual in
various modes, possibly with some low usage from others.

Agreed, if you have more ACTIVE users, what you suggest
makes sense. My question was based on the posit that
if one is connecting multiple computers to use essentially
as one, what's the advantage. This is home to me, as
I have 6 networked PCs in my house with mostly me as the
active user, sometimes two of us, occasionally three.

I think there are probably a lot of folks in my situation
who trade at home or otherwise work from home. For us,
the typical bandwidth collision issues rarely occur.
I occupy 99.9% of bandwidth all by myself, 98% of the time.

Certainly these remain valid questions to ask, but the
answers are different for many of us (for me, for instance).
That was the point of the question.

PS. Speaking of work, I'm going to be hard pressed to make
it to the lake. Will try to do it though, just so we can
fight <G>.
