First paragraph from the above TechWeb story:

LONDON -- European engineers, warily getting used to Windows CE, see it as suitable for only a narrow range of embedded applications. The operating system is too big and too slow for most portable products that need a "hard" real-time OS (RTOS), engineers said in recent interviews here in London.

That's not entirely fair. AOL and Yahoo seem to be doing very well against MSN, despite all the many 'advantages' stemming from owning the OS. I can't comment on checkpoint or the printer driver scenarios you brought up, but Intuit still seems to own the personal finance market with Quicken despite many years of competition from Microsoft.

Anyway, we should probably move threads if we want to continue. My original point is that while WIND is clearly running into competition from Microsoft, I don't believe they'll need any help from DOJ or anyone else to hold them off. WIND is, in my opinion, a top notch management team and more than capable of seeing off 'Mr Softie'.

More important: Why the $3 run today? Any news?!
