OK, I don't work directly in the industry. From a general engineering sense, here's my take on Quickterm. I'm guessing its
a high end tool that would have been hard for a start up to
purchase, but now that the company has lots of cash they can afford.
In the long run it reduces their product cycle time and overall
development costs (they catch problems before they waste money on
test silicon runs).

As an investor, I see it as good news because:
1) It makes me believe their cash flow is strong so that they can
afford investments in infrastructure.
2) Future products come to market faster. This just increases their
lead on the competition.

I'd be surprised if the tool was purchased just to add a given feature to the new chip. Rather it just improves their overall
process.
