Re -- CSCO isn't a contender in the WAN space and has no product to effectively compete there.

They are also losing it in the enterprise space too. They dont have a GE product, just when GE is ramping up.

Soon the market will realize that Cisco is nothing but BS, and the stock will come down.

The Erik DUDE will have to pay the Taxman.

Djane,

Thanks for the post. Interesting points of view. I guess CSCO could buy ASND if indeed they feel convinced that a LU/ASND merger will cost them in excess of $12B in lost earnings...not revenue. I'm not sure CSCO truely feels that way but an interesting perspective nonetheless. If CSCO did purchase ASND LU would be in a world of hurt and so would NT. I have to think about this one for a while.

As for Mory's comments.

Mory said
CSCO is a great enterprise company, but sell only routers in the carrier space.
Mory said CSCO isn't a contender in the WAN space and has no product to
effectively compete there.

In response to question about NN 36170, Mory said it was 4 year old
technology. ASND had new, state-of-the-art tech with density and speed
required for new network.

This is what scares me about ASND. Mory doesn't get it. He seems to think that since ASND has some great boxes that there is no competition. He loses business to routers in the core and he feels that that isn't lost ATM business....well....IT IS! Core sales should indeed be multiservice ATM switch sales. When Cisco sells big fast routers in the core then the market for ATM switches gets smaller - that's bad for ASND..but Mory doesn't seem to get it - notwithstanding Cisco's continued enhancement of the StrataCom products. He appears very cocky for a company that beat estimates by one penny. I just don't feel comfortable with that... Do you?

As for the conference call. I missed it. Do you know where I can get a replay?
