It's not Gomez who wrote the piece, but rather John Robb. Here's his bio from the GomezWire site:

John Robb is routinely cited as an expert in Internet technology
and emerging technology markets. He has had direct influence on
the fortunes of Internet giants Yahoo, PointCast, Netscape, and
Microsoft -- advising them on growth strategies, new technologies,
personalization and marketing. His quotes in the press include most
major technology publications as well as The Economist, The New
York Times, and The Wall Street Journal.

Prior to founding Gomez Advisors, John served as the senior
Internet technology analyst for Forrester Research. While there,
John received awards for original research and developed what are
considered Forrester's top technology ideas for 1995 (Internet
Computing), 1996 (Personal Broadcasting), and 1997 (Intelligent
Interactivity). In addition to Forrester, John was consultant at
Gartner Group and is also a highly decorated former Air Force
officer who served seven years as a command pilot as part of United
States Air Force Special Operations. His academic credentials
include an MPPM from Yale University and a Bachelor of Science in
Astronautical Engineering from the United States Air Force
Academy.

And as for Gomez himself:

Julio Gomez has been clearly identified as a leading industry
expert on on-line financial services. Julio has been cited in all major publications including the Wall Street Journal, New York Times,
Forbes, Barron's, Money, Worth, Financial Net News, Institutional
Investor, Wall Street and Technology, and others. He is also a
frequent keynote speaker on the subject of the Internet's impact on
the financial services industry, and has appeared on television and
radio with his views.

Prior to founding Gomez Advisors, Mr. Gomez was the Senior
Analyst in the Money & Technology Strategies at Forrester
Research, Inc. (NASDAQ symbol FORR). His research agenda
focused on the impact of online connections on the financial
services industry. While there, he examined the effect of interactive
technologies on banking, insurance and brokerage firms and also
assessed the Internet's impact on mutual fund marketing and the
creation of new financial markets. Before joining Forrester, Mr.
Gomez served in key positions in the areas of securities sales and
trading, bank loan syndications, regulatory reporting and executive
management. Mr. Gomez founded North Bridge Securities in 1992 in
Boston, focusing the broker/dealer on municipal bond underwriting.
In 1994 he acquired R.W. Corby and Co. of Washington DC, thus
forming Corby North Bridge Securities, where he served as
Chairman and CEO. He also served on the Fixed Income Advisory
Committee at National Financial Services Corporation, counseling
the clearing firm on technologies affecting approximately 300
broker/dealers. Mr. Gomez received a BA from Princeton University,
where he was awarded a Rotary Foundation scholarship to study
abroad. He is also a Trustee of The Pennington School, in
Pennington, NJ.

Let's see... is that 18 or 19 posts flaming Gomez? Getting a bit defensive? All he did (actually, all his associate did...) was comment on potential threats to this sacred cow called Yahoo. You'd think he had slandered the Pope. Hey, he's a consultant. He works for a living. No time to sip little umbrella drinks on the beach like all you guys. But, did the chief of Softbank call you guys when he was looking to invest $400 million in an online brokerage? Noooo! He called Gomez.

But keep up the flames. It's a good indicator of your comfort holding YHOO at these levels. Thou dost protest too much!

Bob

PS: jawd, is that your big 'asset' pictured in your profile?
