Paul, when I was selling hardware a several years ago, I used to change computers every 3 months. In those days, you could sell a slightly used computer for more than it cost to build. Not a chance of that today.

I haven't bought a new "computer" since. I just trade out parts and use my old part to upgrade someone at the office or keep it in the family. The first company to hit 450 PII-equivalent MHz for under $400 gets my next CPU upgrade. >10GB at 7,200 RPM and <5 watts will be my next disk drive. A recordable DVD will be my next back-up. And NT 5.x my next O/S.

I only wish that the reality was as good as the anticipation. It took 7 hours to upgrade my son's mobo because the CD-ROM jammed while installing the PNP drivers - corrupting the drive on the next boot. We had to delete, erase and rename stuff and reinstall a total of 3 times to get Win98 running again. Win98's new defrag alone took almost an hour :-(

Congrats on your Intel profits. I took my 10% two-week gain and ran at $77.
